The best way to help an individual with autism in an emergency situation to is to prepare them for the emergency beforehand. Individuals with autism follow routines. As a teacher, parent or caregiver there are things you can do to prepare your child or students to help them better understand what the situation is about and what they are to expect.  This short video we created as part of our autism awareness programs, will take you through setting up learning centers and then going on a field trip to an actual fire station. The video explains to the first responders what their role is in the field trip and how they can make it a more productive learning experience. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lw2zFyV6_Bk
